The Arts Portfolio

The Arts Portfolio

I have been saying this for years. Music is so important, and not just for those that will go on to major or even study music in college. Many of the finest universities in the world see musical education, skill, and ability as just one of the many unique personal and character pieces that students bring to the table. Stanford University for example practices what they call “holistic admission” where “each piece in an application is part of an integrated and comprehensive whole.” Read their explanation here. Nursing music education, creativity, and passion is not only right for your child (and yourself), but it may also provide an important competitive edge in today’s growing competitive world. Stanford believes that “creativity is at the heart of a 21st-century education,” and we agree completely!

I have been enjoying tremendously my time working with a TIA student on preparing for his Stanford Arts Portfolio. He is doing excellent work and is preparing two challenging, beautiful, historic pieces of work.  I am so proud of this young man. If he doesn’t get in, Stanford doesn’t know what they would be missing. And he’s going for psych. He learned both of these in just a few weeks, and he’s grown so much just in these few weeks! It’s been a joy to work with him.

If you, your child, or someone you know is considering college or university study and are not yet working with someone—we would love to work with you at TIA. And if you haven’t yet, you might check out Stanford’s program.
