Carol teaches private lessons in violin, piano, and recorder As an Orff instructor, Carol also teaches recorder.

Carol is an innovative and passionate music teacher with over 20 years of experience teaching children of all ages. She specializes in music education with a nurturing and developmental focus for individuals or groups while maintaining a private music teaching practice.

Her appreciation and development for music began at a young age through the influence of her father (a violinist); exposure to multi-cultural music, plays, operas, and instrumentation. During her elementary and secondary school years, she participated in school choirs, drama, music and worship ministries.

Her formal music education began in Malaysia, studying piano under the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), where she completed both her final levels of Theory and Practical.  She continued to pursue her music education at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoain Honolulu, Hawaiʻi where she earned both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees with an emphasis in music composition.  Additionally, she earned certifications in Orff Schulwerk (Levels I, II, III) at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas

Carol is experienced with students from a broad range of cultural backgrounds and is trained in the Schulwerk and Kodaly methods. She has taught recorder, band and orchestra; choir and hand bell choirs.  Carol has developed choreography and conducted musicals, plays, and many other programs. Carol has worked professionally in Hawaii, Oregon, Texas and now in Olympia, Washington. She has taught private piano and a variety of stringed instruments. Her interests have taken her into learning how to repair and refurbish stringed instruments while continuing to volunteer playing piano, organ and electronic keyboard in her community.

Carol, as all of our faculty, went through our careful selection process that includes multiple formal interviews including a team interview and audition with multiple TIA faculty members, and was highly recommended by her supervisors and peers. Carol brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team, and most importantly of course, Carol is in complete agreement with our mission and values.

Carol resides in Texas now and therefore teaches virtual only.
