The Tuned In Academy

Teaching Standards

One of the beautiful things that I think makes TIA different from other studios is consistency across the academy, a shared mission and values, and accountability to all of these.

We have established best practices for how we do things. We have benchmarks and standards across the academy for essentials of musicianship and understanding of music as a whole. And we hold each other accountable to all of them.

Regularly whenever we have the chance because of a cancellation or something, founding faculty members or principal faculty of a given instrument will sit in on a lesson and give the faculty member feedback, both positive, encouraging, and constructive if need be in the areas above.

Just today I had the rare opportunity of 30 free minutes to sit in on a guitar lesson with one of our new associate faculty and I was encouraged. I saw all of the things I would expect as part of the TIA way, and even some things that I was reminded of that I could do more to include in how I teach.

At TIA we are not just a bunch of teachers, we are a team of teachers that commit to making a difference through music as a team. And that is something you can count on.
