The Tuned In Academy

New Homeschool Beginning Music Classes!

Three new homeschool classes!

Homeschool families, enroll now in Beginning Piano, Recorder, or Ukulele! Affordable, fun, and professional music education at TIA.

A Northwest native, many of SD’s early music experiences were lived out as a trumpet player in the award winning Auburn High School Jazz Band, Concert Band, and Marching Band. Sean-David is a graduate of Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA) where he studied jazz composition and performance with jazz greats like Phil Wilson, Greg Hopkins, Jeff Stout, Lin Biviano, and Hal Crook. “SD” also studied jazz improvisation privately with Jerry Bergonzi (world-renowned jazz artist and educator) for over a year and a half while in Boston. Sean-David served for six years in the U.S. Army Bands both in the US and abroad. He has experience playing professionally in a variety of environments; small groups, big bands, orchestral, musical theatre, and in churches, but jazz music is his passion as a musician. Sean-David is also a skilled and educated composer often writing new music to serve community. SD also holds a Master of Arts and recently completed a doctorate with a project focus on facilitating and serving the community through a local non-profit music academy.

It has been a very busy year and an even busier spring at The Tuned In Academy! We are excited to have a few openings where we can offer homeschool classes. We love our homeschool families and anytime we have the opportunity to we try to offer the classes we think will most interest and meet their needs.

Homeschool Recorder Lab with SD

Recorder

The recorder is a wonderful starter instrument for learning music and specifically a wind instrument. It is very affordable, easy to play physically in terms of air stream and embouchure, and quite a beautiful instrument when learned well. The recorder also has a long and rich history of wonderful music. We also have some really fun digital wind synthesizers that use similar fingerings which hard working students may have an opportunity to gain some experience on.

Ideal for students ages 7 through 10. Currently enrolling for our Thursday 2PM Homeschool Recorder Lab, tuition is just $40 monthly. Contact us today to reserve your spot.

Important Note to Parents:

Parents, you know your children best, these classes do require basic music notation reading. We will teach your kids to do this, but it does take focus, tracking, and a bit of work/practice at home. If you are unsure if they may be ready, give us a call, we would be happy to try to meet up sometime before you sign up if possible or discuss some of the requirements and challenges of learning to read and play music. It is wonderful, and a ton of fun, but does take some discipline and effort, both of which will help develop your children even more!
