The other day in the middle of one of my lessons, my piano student turns to me and says, you are my favorite piano teacher! I replied, well thank you, that is so sweet. But am I not also your only piano teacher? He admitted and smiled, yes, but even if I have other piano teachers in my life—and I hope you will teach me for years and years to come—you will still be my favorite!
He’s a super sweet kid and of course I am honored by that statement. And I LOVE being a student’s first teacher. Yes, I love all my students—as we all do at TIA. But there is something so special and so sweet about being the one who first introduces someone to music, the joy, the wonder, and yes even walking through its challenges and coming out victorious on the other side. One of the many reasons we love beginning students as much as we love our advanced students!
By the way, this particular student, like many of our students, would not even be here if it weren’t for the support of those in the community that love music and support our mission. He is being sponsored by a neighbor that just knew that music would be good for him; and we are so thankful he’s a part of the community and so is the neighbor in her support!

*We filed for a new corporation, a 501(c)3 as TIA Northwest explicitly for the purpose of raising funds for The Tuned In Academy. Our attorney has suggested that we receive these funds through the new corporation. The application for tax exempt status is pending. Assuming the application is approved, which it should be, any contribution will be tax deductible.
