It Takes a Village

No photo description available. It takes a village. That’s what they say. When we were notified we would be able to add the basement to the studio at TIA we had no idea how long it would take to fill the basement with instruments we could use down there, seating, and furnishings. We are by no means done getting it just right, so it has that TIA welcome and feel, but it has been less than two weeks and thanks to Kevin Hayward State Farm, David Anderson, a few TIA moms, Thomas and his tribe, and a former college student of mine (in Oklahoma), we now have two beautiful pianos (one upright and one baby grand), a brand new Questlove drumset, and many of the other new furnishings downstairs.

The basement is already bustling as Jordan and I have both moved our primary teaching areas downstairs, freeing up more space upstairs and providing some sound buffering from the drums and horns. Thanks so much to everyone that made this possible and helped us move in quickly! If you are still looking to give, we could still use a small rug for the baby grand room to go under the horn student area and some music themed art (perhaps a jazz piano player poster). We would also love to get this for security. And we can always use more scholarship funds. We have about $500 remaining in our scholarship budget at this point and are currently offering scholarships to a handful of students. Give a little or a lot, either way it makes a big difference.
