Festival on Stage

Festival on Stage is a community event that we welcome and invite all of TIA and the greater Olympia community to come and enjoy! At this event, all the students that worked so hard on their Festival music will play their music for the community from the stage.

Festival 2022!

TIA is the only local club in the area for the National Federation of Music Clubs, the largest non-profit organization in America promoting and supporting American music performers and music education. We have an annual adjudication event (Festival) which is open to non-TIA students in the area studying music elsewhere, and there are many other opportunities as well including serious cash incentives and scholarships for TIA students through NFMC.

Our annual event is this Saturday, and students are going to be amazing!
We also have some great local leadership and professional musicians/educators from the community serving as adjudicators!

Why We Love Student Teachers

Music Making at Revel Lacey

After all of this Corona time, it is so good to be able to get back into the community making music for the people! Thanks Revel for the invite! We believe music matters and makes a difference, and we love making community music.

Teaching Teachers

Did you know that TIA we teach teachers as well as students? As music educators, it is our passion to make music understandable, accessible, and a ton of fun. And teaching is our passion as well as making music. What makes us most happy is seeing other students and other musicians finding joy and excitement in their craft, enjoying the beauty and the mystery of music.

It Takes a Village

It takes a village. That’s what they say. When we were notified we would be able to add the basement to the studio at TIA we had no idea how long it would take to fill the basement with instruments we could use down there, seating, and furnishings. We are by no means done getting […]

Continued Individual Study with The Evergreen State College

Just finished writing up a letter of observation for an independent learning music student from The Evergreen State College. He is doing so well. In his first semester, he learned his foundational forty-eight scales (Major, minor, harmonic minor, and melodic minor) in all twelve keys and is able to play them with proper fingerings in the […]
