The Tuned In Academy

Private Lessons in Saxophone

Sean-David (SD) is a multi-instrumentalist who has been playing music for over 39 years. While SD’s primary instrument is the trumpet, he began learning the saxophone, the trombone, the drums, and pretty much any instrument he could get his hands on in middle school. Sean-David fell in love with the saxophone as soon as he heard John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Charlie Parker, and Bud Shank.

SD works with many saxophone students at TIA every week on alto, tenor, and bari. And with over twenty years as a seasoned educator, SD would love to lead you on a journey through the saxophone. One of SD’s passions on sax is finding and developing your own sound approach. SD plays sax regularly on commercial recordings like this one.

SD has worked with a variety of instruments and teaches what you want to know in a relatable and easy to understand way. SD can help you learn from the beginning, or meet you where you are on the journey and walk forward with you. As a musician, SD spent years struggling with what it meant to want his own musical voice (and not to sound like someone else). If you are seeking to find your individual voice in composition, on your instrument, or in improvisation, SD would love to help you find it.

If you want technical skills and preparation, SD can help you. Sean-David knows what is required of musicians for entrance into premier music opportunities. He has exceeded the necessary standards of entrance to the US Army Bands, Berklee College of Music, and even musical theater positions.

Discipline, Hard Work, Passion, Dedication, and Persistence

Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States, picked up the tenor saxophone as a child. He learned discipline, hard work, and developed a passion, dedication, and persistence that paid off in music and obviously well beyond. He earned first chair in Arkansas’s high school state honors band and went on to become the Governor of Arkansas and of course, the President of the United States.
