Summers are often a great time for travel, camping, day camps, and all kinds of fun summer activities for kids. There’s a lot of other kids though, where that’s just not really an option. Perhaps they are in a really busy family with moms and dads that work hard and don’t have the time or the option to do all those things, or maybe it just isn’t how you do life. It’s important to think about what will keep your kids busy and having new experiences, learning, making new friends and staying engaged in life this summer. Summer music is a great opportunity for that!
One of my favorite things to do as a kid, especially as somebody who already had learned music and was playing music on a regular basis, was to actually learn new instruments. As a trumpet player whose primary instrument was trumpet, it was in my summers that I learned how to play the drums, then I learned how to play the saxophone, the trombone, I grew much on piano and dived in so much more—especially in jazz, and I also met a lot of friends.
This summer will have lots of great opportunities for students to learn music anew if they never played it before, or to learn in second instruments just like I did. Drums! Hand drums! Ukulele! Guitar! Piano! Violin! Saxophone! Stay tuned for more details! Private lessons, and, fun affordable small group options great for friend making. Our summer semester is just 8 weeks, so, you can still plan an end of spring vaca through July 4th, and a great end of summer break through Labor Day. Fill the in between with music, memories, and more friends!
