The Tuned In Academy

JazzLab HomeAspiring Jazz musicians (and that includes you educators and music teachers)!

Do you play or teach music but don’t really have a solid grasp of jazz music, don’t feel like you can consistently play jazz music or improvise confidently over jazz music? Did you know that we have a wonderful, fun, accessible, and affordable opportunity for learning that would be perfect for you?!

JazzLab is an active group that meets monthly for an hour on Saturdays to explore all these things just mentioned as a community, as an ensemble, and we have so much fun doing it! We also play live at some local cafes and events as well as at our semesterly presentations for the academy! And we welcome more students in that group, drop us a line if you’re interested!

But, maybe an hour once a month on Saturday doesn’t work for you, maybe you just don’t want to commit to showing up once a month, maybe you’re not local, you could still be a part of the JazzLab community wherever you are through our Band App.

What you’ll get with JazzLab Home:

• Monthly new content, often even weekly new content designed to help you practice, learn, and grow in your theoretical and practical development of playing jazz music (this includes rhythm, chords, modes and scales, form, phrasing, and putting all those things together to create improvisational concepts and music).

• Access to all prior content. New music every semester and probably more, this usually includes at least one or two lead sheet type pieces (jazz standards and sometimes other lesser known works) and actual arrangements for the ensemble specifically for your part. If you’re not a part locally or here to play with us when we meet on Saturdays, you can still learn the charts, and we can even try to drop a recording you can play along with. Most of the charts we also drop a Musescore file to in the Band App. And you would be welcome to come when you can! Maybe even just a few times a year!

• One on one personalized feedback directly from SD, our Master faculty who has studied privately with Jerry Bergonzi, Jeff Stout, Greg Hopkins, and Ken Cervenka. If you shoot SD recordings of yourself each month, he’ll send you detailed feedback and some key steps for moving forward. Questions answered via the Band App. Got general questions about the music or jazz in general, hit SD up on the Band App.

Just $30 monthly!
