Guitar, Bass Guitar, Improvisation, Songwriting, and Trombone:
Robert teaches Guitar, Improvisation, and Songwriting/Composition:
Robert started playing guitar and writing songs at 8 years of age. After years of playing in rock bands as a kid, Robert started learning jazz guitar in 10th grade and studied with guitarist Mack Dougherty, the guitarist for Dallas Jazz Orchestra and a local studio musician. After graduating, Robert auditioned for and earned a spot as a guitarist in the Army Music Program.
While in the Army Robert studied guitar with Jazz Guitar great Robert Roetker and later earned a position as a guitarist in the Army’s prestigious TRADOC Band. Robert has over 20 years of experience playing in and leading rock bands, country bands, jazz combos, and large jazz ensembles in the army and on the side as a civilian musician as well.
Robert starts beginning students in Guitar for Absolute Beginners or GAB and Bass Guitar for Absolute Beginners or B-GAB for short. This course starts from scratch and moves into developing techniques and skills to quickly learn songs. The average guitarist/Bass guitarist will be playing songs after only four classes!
During GAB, the option is given to enroll in Guitar Blast which is a group of guitarists. In this course, guitarists play as a group, learning how to function and play in an ensemble, creating music together. Of course, Robert is happy to continue teaching one-on-one, but firmly believes that music is best learned in community.
If you are an aspiring rocker (guitar, bass, keys, vocals or drums), intermediate or advanced, Robert is putting together a class, or better put Rock Band, called Burnside where you will function, play, and even record in a real music group.
Robert holds a BA in music and a Master of Arts. He currently resides in DuPont, WA. Robert also goes by the alias Robert Braxton and has some clips of his music and guitar playing on his YouTube site. Rob also teaches songwriting, improv, and trombone.
