Hopeful Expectations for Year 2

Friends,

Last week I wrote briefly some reflections on our first year back here in the Northwest and some of the great things that happened at the academy this year. Today, I am thinking about some of that which we are planning and hoping for this year, and some of our goals for the academy. I will share with you today just a few expectations for year 2, and a few things we are hoping for.year two

Hopeful Expectations

  • We will have a fully functional and trained advisory board in place to guide the academy into more effective and far-reaching service to the needs of families and individuals in the South Sound and beyond. This is the focus of my doctoral project.
  • We are believing for a great summer session with lots of developing student musicians, and relationships: Classes begin July 8. We currently have about 20 students signed up, but would love more students, and sponsors to scholarship more students.
  • We will have our first presentation night: A night of music from the academy, to include private students, a few small groups, and Jazz In Common. This will be August 23rd at Traditions in Olympia, probably 6PM, save the date, we would love for you to come out. The event is free and open to the public.
  • Sponsors and scholarship funds: The advisory board will explore the possibility of going non-profit. Our hope is that we would be able to raise funds each year to reach many families and individuals that otherwise would not have the opportunity for this kind of music study, at least 60% of our students. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please let us know.

Thanks so much for following!
