These are mere suggestions.

Payment Policy

You may pay by cash, check, or PayPal. If a check is returned for non-sufficient funds, you will be charged up to $15 in fees depending on how our credit union processes the check and return fees. We realize this happens, but if it happens a second time we will require you to pay in cash for all future payments.

PayPal is a great service that we are happy to extend to our families, but it does cost us money, so we need to be careful to a avoid undue financial burden on the academy, which would result in passing costs on to our families.

For Group Classes

Ideally, we prefer tuition for group classes be paid up front for the entire semester, but we understand if you need to pay monthly. If you pay monthly, please pay each month by the first class of the month. If situations require a unique pay plan, let us know, we are happy to try and work with you.

All of our classes are tuition based. Tuition is to be paid every month for the entire length of the semester that a student is enrolled, even if they miss a class. Please plan accordingly. Make-up class visits are encouraged when available and applicable.

For Lessons

For lessons, we prefer tuition be paid each month for the entire month, but we understand if you need to pay weekly. If you pay weekly, please pay each week on the day of your lesson.

Late Fee

We ask that you please keep your account current. Unfortunately, because of the cost of operating the academy and the studio we will need to charge a $10 late charge if your account is not current by the 10th of the month.

Maintaining Your Time-slot

To maintain a time-slot you must agree to and pay weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly according to the frequency of your lessons. Frequencies of lessons are up to you, and can be arranged with us according to your needs. If you don’t stay current on payments, we cannot guarantee your slot.

Oasis Policy

Tuition must be paid in full by the beginning of the next semester or students will not be permitted to enroll in the next semester until paid in full. Also, parents are financially responsible for any remaining balance within 30 days after the end of the semester. Discounts apply only if tuition is paid within 30 days of invoice. All TIA Late policies apply.

Canceling, Rescheduling, and No Shows

If you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson for any reason other than an emergency, you will need to contact your teacher no later than 9am on your scheduled day. If in the case of a no-show* for your scheduled time, you will be required to pay for the missed lesson without a make-up. If you miss three scheduled lessons in a row, you will be dropped from the schedule. *Failure to contact us by 10am on your scheduled day is equivalent to a no show. If your teacher misses a lesson (for reasons other than an emergency) without proper notice, you will be granted one free lesson. Due to scheduling and the amount of students, tardiness will result in a shortened lesson time with full payment.

Sick Policy

If a student is ill, contagious, or has had a fever in the last 24 hours, we ask for the well-being of our teachers, our families, and for the rest of our students and their families that you stay home.

If you are a private lesson student, call us, we may be able to reschedule. If you are in a class, we appreciate your desire to persevere and not miss out, but if you get anyone in the class sick, or us as teachers, then even more could be missing out. We do have Skype lessons available as an alternative if you are well enough for a lesson, but not to come to the studio.

We love all of our students and their families, and it is for this reason that this is so important. We can’t do what we do if we are sick. And we know how difficult it is to raise a family, work, go to school, and be sick. So we ask that you respect this policy. If need be, TIA faculty may ask you to leave if they are concerned about the well-being of themselves or the students due to your sickness. If you are better later in a week and we have an appropriate alternate class/open seat, you are welcome to sit in.

Intellectual Content

In our desire to be the musicians we are called to be, we realize that our teaching must follow out of the same desire. That said, there are some important matters regarding what songs “say” that sometimes must be addressed. The intellectual content of music can be incredibly significant and have far-reaching in impact, even if it seems insignificant on the surface. We will offer students at least a starting point, a framework from which to analyze intellectual content. As the teachers, we personally will analyze the intellectual content of every song a student brings (original or cover), and therefore need the music at least a week or two prior to when they would like to begin working on it so that we can evaluate it. If for any reason we find that a song must be either altered by way of lyrics, or rejected, we will speak directly first to all parents of students under the age of 18.
